Atlantis - it was originally built as a safe haven for the Fey who wanted to escape the constant wars and violence between humans. By nature, a small amount of violence, stealing, bribing, and other immoral vices is unavoidable. But the excess in which humans indulge in these vices was appalling to the Fey. Shapeshifters, weres, vamps, harpies, sorceresses, nymphs, faeries, hybrids, and other Fey all sought refuge in the famed city.
Don’t let the name fool you, either - unlike what popular tradition says, the city isn’t totally submerged. Located in the Caribbean, the city spills out from the water and onto a chain of forested islands. A transparent golden sphere surrounds the city, and while the Fey can pass through freely, humans find themselves unable to pass. Many Fey view humanity with disgust and choose to stay away from human territory – though, they’re not above wandering out and seeding mischief and mayhem among the humans.
Inexplicably, and without reason, the protective shields surrounding Atlantis are beginning to weaken. Additional shields have been added, but they are weakening and failing one by one. Compounding the issue, technology is now advancing at an incredible pace. With the right knowledge and technology, humans are now able to enter Atlantis. The Fey are being hunted down by the humans, be it because of fear, hatred, jealousy, or a myriad of other reasons.
But the Fey are not about to sit back and do nothing. Many of the Fey are already fighting back, using their powers and abilities to take revenge. The best and brightest are working on finding a solution, both to the killings and to their protective shield.
If things don’t cool down, war between the Fey and humans is unavoidable. War is just as unavoidable if something is not done to save the barrier that protects their haven. And it won’t be long until things reach a critical point, if they have not already done so.
